Megan Vickers

"I have been receiving physio from Megan Vickers on and off for a few years now and more intensively for the last 3 months for my sciatica.
Late August when I returned from my holidays in Canada, I had a terrible back. I could not move much and was visibly crooked. I was in so much agony. When I saw Megan, the pain drove me into tears. She completely exercised great control and command of the situation. She went beyond her call of duty and employed various strategies on me, all carefully thought out despite having to do it on the spot.
I have seen many physios over the years having had a back operation in 2001. What I saw in Megan was exceptional. I wanted to bring to your attention not only my gratitude but my marvel at such exceptional talent and compassion which is so needed in her profession.
I will continue to recommend her services to all in need of physio." - M. Lemmon

"I’ve been going to Megan for Pilates and periodic physio treatments since 2010 and she’s excellent.
Not only is she a highly skilled physiotherapist and teacher but she’s also a really nice, kind and thoughtful person. And very smiley! Her classes are great fun but she also knows when to push you and just how far!
I’ve suffered a number of very painful back injuries and Megan has been instrumental in helping me through them using both physio and individually tailored Pilates exercises. The pain can be incredibly debilitating but Megan is highly effective at dealing with both the pain and the underlying injury. She’s also great at explaining things and setting out a clear programme, whether it’s for rehab following an injury or to build up a particular muscle as a preventative measure. And she’s great at following up and checking on progress.
Megan knows her clients as individuals and tailors her treatment, classes and advice to the particular person. Fantastic!" - B

Nikki Peacock

"I recently received sessions of physio-therapy from Nikki for a damaged knee. I would like to pass on my thanks for the wonderful and extremely beneficial treatment I received form Nikki.
On the initial assessment I found Nikki to combine genuine empathy with professional expertise in equal measures and this combination immediately put me at ease that I was with a first class practitioner.
This initial opinion was quickly and convincingly confirmed as Nikki worked on my knee and developed a strategy of exercise movements which I found to be immensely beneficial and quickly started my recovery process.
Over the following weeks Nikki continued to provide me with developments in the treatment plan as well as on-site treatment which significantly contributed to a speedy recovery of my knee to pre-accident condition.
All in all I was very satisfied with my treatment from APPI and Nikki and would have no hesitation in recommending the clinic and Nikki as the practitioner who assisted my recovery." - Alex

"I feel very lucky to have found Nikki. Not only is she a professional and highly knowledgeable Physio, she's an inspirational and talented Pilates teacher. Nikki has helped me enormously with my back issues; her patience, positive attitude and cheerful demeanour are infectious and her advice is always practical and sound. I would definitely recommend Nikki."
- Caroline Lindsey

"I underwent shoulder replacement surgery following an accident and started physio with Nikki approximately 4 months post-surgery, at which time I could barely move my arm and shoulder an inch. Feeling very low, Nikki’s genuine enthusiasm, empathy, support and expertise, through hands- on physio and development of an effective exercise strategy, has facilitated 90-100 degree movement. This is better than the consultant thought I could achieve and is largely down to Nikki’s skill and persistence, which included writing reports to my private health care providers to ensure I received continued financial support. I would wholeheartedly recommend Nikki and continue to see her on a monthly basis to maintain my post-surgery recovery." - Beverley Saha

"A back injury was the catalyst for my seeking help from APPI.  I had made repeated trips to a physiotherapist outside APPI for pain relief.  I was told that Pilates would help, so I joined a small group Pilates class with Nikki  about 3 years ago.  After about 2 months my pain subsided and now it only comes back when I am away from Pilates, usually due to travel.
Nikki keeps notes of what we do in every class.  She keeps our workout interesting and varied, and is a constant source of fun and inspiration. I really look forward to our sessions together.   Nikki is genuinely interested in her patients and treats each of us as a unique individual.  She is a first rate therapist!" - Karen

Hayley Baylis

"Hayley is a brilliant physiotherapist and pilates teacher. Over the last few years I have suffered both back and knee injuries and Hayley has been there to help, showing an incredible ability to figure out exactly what was wrong and great skill at minimising the pain and fixing the injury.
After I had surgery for a different condition she created a rehab programme and worked with me to rebuild both my movement and my confidence. I would not have recovered as swiftly without her expertise, support and kindness. The integration between the physio side and pilates classes also meant that I could get back to normal classes while knowing that Hayley was tailoring things for me that would underpin the post-surgery recovery programme.
I go to Hayley’s pilates classes regularly and know that she will push me (oh yes!) while making the classes fun and interesting. Who knew there were so many different ways of working muscles!
Hayley is a lovely positive person, highly skilled, empathetic and motivating. I couldn’t recommend her more." - B.

Nikki Browning

"My 15 year old son was diagnosed with a stress fracture, a frightening prospect for an aspiring sportsman, for the whole family. Without the support – both clinical and personal – from Nikki, the road to recovery would without doubt have been harder, steeper, longer. She has gone way beyond the call of duty, emailing us, attending specialist appointments and generally supporting the whole family during this worrying process.
She has a natural affinity with teenagers which meant that she made initial clinical assessment one that he could understand. She spoke to him on his level so he realised how he had to help himself recover. My son has felt encouraged and inspired to keep up the exercises set between sessions, which have meant that he has progressed very well. The support with “homework” via email each week, the encouraging start at each session and his general improvement are completely down to her.
I don’t know how we would have got through the process without her. I hope she will continue to be part of his sporting career going forward. We not only found a fantastic physio but we also made a friend." - Fran

"As someone who has suffered with back, shoulder and neck problems for a number of years I have found Pilates really beneficial in helping my movement and easing any pain. I have been seeing Nikki for 121 sessions over the last 18 months and she has devised a programme that really suits my needs and relieves pain and stress in these areas. I have seen a huge improvement over the last few months thanks to her experience and knowledge, not just with Pilates but physio too." - Diana J.

Claire Askew

"I have been doing pilates for 2-1/2 years now following major back surgery and have been fortunate enough to have Claire Askew as one of my instructors. Her care and style suits me, she pushes me forward at all times to gain ever building strength and flexibility while always mindful of any limitations so as not to over do it . Her enthusiasm is infectious and I would highly recommend her as a teacher." - L.J.

"Claire’s expertise as both a physio and Pilates instructor has had an almost miraculous impact on my quality of life. 18 months ago, I was in constant pain and struggling to do the activities I love. Today, my posture has improved, I can sleep at night without pain killers and I’m thoroughly enjoying walking, dancing and T’ai Chi again. If I had realised how much fun our sessions would be and the extent of the improvement that was possible, I would have sought Claire’s help months ago. Thank you, Claire!" - C.K.

"I cannot recommend Claire Askew highly enough as a pilates instructor or physiotherapist. She was quickly able to pick up my body's strengths and weaknesses, and adapts each session to suit my individual needs. Claire is very knowledgeable and skilled, always incorporating new techniques she has learned into our sessions and always ensuring I am progressing in strength and fitness." - GB

Hazel Rolston

"I now alternate the Friday 10am mat class and the Friday 12 noon circuit class and feel I am gaining in strength every week.
I am really impressed with how Hazel has developed her approach in the mat class. She leads the class confidently, explains the exercises clearly and checks our posture regularly which is really useful. I find the circuit class challenging and am really pleased that Chelsea leads the class so effectively, explaining clearly several different variations for each exercise so I am able to work at my level. Chelsea has a really encouraging and humorous approach which I think results in her getting the best out of us. I also have invaluable support from Shelly, she always greets me cheerfully and answers my queries patiently. I benefit from her lateral-thinking approach to scheduling, for example the suggestion about alternating the classes.
I am so grateful to the staff of APPI Wimbledon for all their support." - T.G.

"I am finding the 10 am mat class with Hazel immensely helpful. Hazel leads the class both confidently and patiently now that it is larger and I benefit particularly from the well-targeted adaptations she suggests for me. I am growing in strength at this class and am grateful for APPI's continuing support." - T.G.
