Yoga, meditation, and mindfulness have been taught to increase self-awareness for centuries. This ancient tradition provides movements and techniques to support the growing demands of modern life. These powerful practices can be used preventatively to increase self-awareness as well as rehabilitation of the body and stress reduction for the mind. It is a potent complement to any client program.
The Unite Health Introduction to Yoga course provides Physiotherapists and other rehabilitation professionals with the fundamental knowledge to begin teaching safe and effective yoga-based movements. The skills developed in this course are designed to complement existing rehabilitation programs or to be offered as classes or one on one sessions for clients wanting to explore the benefits of Yoga in a safe environment. Linking to relevant clinical research, this course will provide an evidence-based approach to teaching Yoga for rehabilitation.
Introduction to Yoga covers a variety of beginner level poses and techniques which will facilitate postural education, correct movement patterning, body/breath awareness as well as helping clients find alignment in their bodies. This course will also explore the power of the mind-body connection that provides a holistic approach to any rehabilitation program. This practical course is designed to ensure you can put your new knowledge into practice straight away.
Designed by Australian physiotherapist, Irene Ais for physiotherapists and rehabilitation professionals, the Unite Health Yoga Method presents the most recent research relevant to Yoga and teaches a realistic, safe and effective framework of Yoga exercises for rehabilitation and therapy.
Yoga history and philosophy are explored to develop solid foundations for Yoga teaching. Level 1 poses, breathing and meditation techniques are presented through a variety of teaching methods with a focus on participation in numerous practical sessions. Throughout the course, clinical applications of yoga principles, as well as the exercises themselves will be explored. Case studies will be reviewed and participants have the chance to design and discuss their own yoga programmes. Guided meditation and breathing techniques assist participants in generating the skills required for effective programs spanning the layers of mind, body, and breath that yoga influences.
This course will also provide the skills for skillful physical and verbal pose adjustments and how to increase teaching skills for leading classes.
This course is open to Physiotherapists, Exercise Physiologists, Osteopaths, Sports Scientists, Chiropractors, Rehabilitation Therapists, Doctors, Myotherapists, Physiotherapy students, Pilates instructors and Yoga instructors. Prior to commencing your Therapeutic Yoga training, we recommend that you attend a few yoga classes to familiarise yourself with some basic concepts and movements.
